New Toy

BenQ held the annual appreciation dinner yesterday. I was lucky enough to win a new toy for myself, an ebook!

Yep, once again it is made by BenQ, and its likely to be full of problems as it is a new product.

Then again, I cannot complaint too much, as it is the third year that I was actually picked to win something over the last three annual appreciation dinners. 2007 was a crappy mobile phone, 2008 was a digital camera and this year, an ebook.

Like every other year, I will end up selling this.

If you like to know what it looks like, here it is:

Contemplating

I am not the kind of person who would just think about changing job.

Recently, I have been contemplating, am I really happy with my current job?

Pay, average. Work load, huge. Pressure, yes and no. Overtime, definiately.

This year is also my fifth year tenture. Not sure if I should put it as a compliment, or a time to reflect what I have done for this company over the last five years and if I should work here for another five years, or head out.

Strangely enough, I took out the same resume which I applied for my current job. An outdated resume, of course. I started revising it, like a journal, I started adding different accolades and achievement from the last five years.

Saved the file, and updated on job listing website.

I am not happy with current pay, and want a better job with shorter hours. Maybe it is time for me to move on.

Happy New Year 2010

Welcome 2010.

Like every other New Year, I took the Taipei 101 firework. This time from my car. It was awful. I couldn’t even get out of my car to set up my tripod. The shots I took were so shit I am too embarassed to show.

Then I started my 2010 spending almost two hours driving home from the celebration area. The same distance normally would take only fifteen minutes if I had walked. Plus some dick scrached my car. Fuck.

Happy 2010.

After nine weeks, it is still the size of a pea. So small.

Speechless

I am nervous, but excited.

I still cannot believe what I just heard today. I am almost speechless.

Unbelivable feeling. It is just amazing.

I Drove Through 逢甲夜市

I drove down to to Taichung (台中) to attend my cousin’s wedding. Since it was such a long drive my wife decided to stay the weekend over there.

GPS worked well, it took me from Taipei to Taichung without much of a problem.

However, GPS doesn’t seem to know 逢甲夜市. On my way leaving from the wedding venue to the hotel, GPS too me right through the one of the crowded streets of Taichung City.

Luckily, it was only 3:30 in the afternoon. All the stores and food stands only just started preparing, but it was already very crowded, and people were starting moving in by the seconds. At one point, my car was virtually stuck in the middle of the nightmarket. People were staring at me and probably thinking why the heck would a car come driving in here?

The conclusion is, GPS knows roads, but it does not know places.

The NBA is in Taiwan!

Yep, Pacers and Nuggets played their exhibition match in Taipei Arena.

Its amazing how the NBA brought the whole package here. Not just the players, but coaches, refs, dancers, mascots, statistics people, and so on. They even prepared the shot clock, and the wooden floor too.

It wasn’t a fantastic match, considering it was an exhibition game, but the players did play like a proper NBA game. At the end, the “home” team, the Indiana Pacers won, 126 to 104, over the Denver Nuggets.

I didn’t watch it live. Apparently the tickets were sold out three months ago, and sold out in three days.

Oh well, better luck next time.

I returned back to work like normal today.

Happy Moon Festival

I ate a lot of moon cakes.

I am fat again.

I never really liked festivals which involve a lot of eating.

Anyway, Happy Moon Festival.
